Lessons in Love
A Research-Based Relationship Enrichment Workshop Coming to Tokyo in Spring 2026
Building healthy, meaningful relationships doesn’t come with a manual — but research can help.
In Spring 2026, a new psycho-educational workshop, Lessons in Love: Seven Principles for Singles, will be offered in Tokyo. This workshop is grounded in the internationally respected research of Dr. John Gottman, best known for The Seven Principles for Making Marriage Work, thoughtfully adapted to support individuals who are currently single and interested in building stronger, healthier relationships.
Lessons in Love will be a one day face to face workshop. It will be informative and fun!
A practical, research-informed approach to relationships
Lessons in Love is designed for people who may not feel that therapy is the right fit for them, but who are curious about learning evidence-based skills for understanding themselves and relating to others more effectively. The workshop focuses on practical tools, self-reflection, and learning — all within a supportive, non-therapeutic group setting.
Participants explore key principles drawn from decades of relationship research, with the aim of:
Gaining greater insight into their own relationship patterns
Strengthening current connections
Building skills that support healthier future relationships
Developing deeper emotional awareness and communication
Many individuals who attend similar workshops describe the experience as empowering, clarifying, and deeply enriching, even when they are not currently in a relationship.
Led by an experienced therapist and Gottman Leader
As a Tokyo-based CBT Therapist and trained Gottman Leader, I will guide and support participants through structured learning activities and discussions over the course of a day. The material is engaging, respectful, and grounded in research.
For those who find relationships challenging or confusing at times, Lessons in Love offers a clear, research-supported roadmap for understanding what helps relationships thrive — and what can quietly undermine them.
An educational workshop — not therapy
Lessons in Love is a psycho-educational workshop, focused on teaching and skill development. While it draws on clinical research, it is not a substitute for individual or couples therapy, and no therapy will be conducted during the sessions. The emphasis is on learning, reflection, and practical application.
Our aim
The mission of Lessons in Love: Seven Principles for Singles is to make high-quality relationship research accessible to individuals in Tokyo and beyond, offering tools and insights that can be applied throughout life — whether in romantic relationships, friendships, or future partnerships.
Dates and venue will be confirmed soon.
